Communion & Confirmation

Communion Class

Our communion class consists of our 1st and 2nd graders.  This class helps children to understand more about the Holy Eucharist (communion) and our liturgy.

At the end of the 2nd grade year, children will participate in the Communion Celebration held in May.  This celebration is a time to acknowledge the children’s understanding of communion and liturgy.

The Episcopal church welcomes all who are baptized to receive communion, regardless of age.  It is family preference as to whether a child receives communion prior to the communion celebration.  Some families choose to wait until their child has completed the communion class, and the child then has their “first communion” during the communion celebration.

Those who receive communion before the celebration will still take part in the celebration to acknowledge their learning and understanding.

We have the expectation of each child’s full commitment to attend classes throughout the year  in order to participate in the year end celebration.

Communion Celebration Sunday May 20, 2012 at 10 a.m.

Confirmation Class

Classes  begin in the fall to prepare for a spring confirmation.  This year’s Deanery wide confirmation will take place on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Cathedral of St. Paul’s in Boston, Massachusetts.

We have the expectation that each confirmand will be committed to attending all classes in preparation for confirmation.  Confirmands will be expected to attend the 10 a.m. service and then attend class  from 11:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the Reverend Grant Barber.  Classes are held in the Gordon Room.

If you are interested in having your child confirmed, please contact  Reverend Grant.  Confirmands are grade nine and above.  Adults wishing to be confirmed should also contact Reverend Grant.
