How long have you been living in  Scituate? 15 years

What brought you to St. Luke’s? A desire to reconnect with the Episcopal Church.

How many years ago? 5 years ago.

Any family members involved here in the past or present? No, I have no other family living locally.

Have you done any other sorts of things here at the church? Other committees, ministries? No

What sorts of memories do you have of church, where ever that was, from your childhood? I attended two different Episcopal churches during my childhood/early adulthood.  One was very ‘gothic’, built of large stones, walnut pews, a bell tower, etc. and the other was much more contemporary construction similar to St. Luke’s.  The ‘gothic’ church always felt very somber, whereas the other always seemed to be more inviting.

What three words would you use to describe your experience of St. Luke’s? Welcoming, enriching, and uplifting.

Some people in leadership positions like to use their skills and training from their work or ‘secular’ life here at the church; others enjoy the opportunity to explore other parts of themselves, their interests and skills, that don’t get called upon as often in the rest of their lives. Any thoughts how you fit into this? I would say that there is very little crossover between my ‘secular’ life and my work with the church.  I find it gratifying to be able to explore other facets of myself that I might otherwise not.

What sorts of things would you like to see for St. Luke’s over the next one to three years? Anything beyond that? I  think this is an interesting time in the life of St. Luke’s.  There is the culmination of a great deal of hard work that others have done on the capital campaign, the fruits of that labor will be seen in a myriad of improvements during the next three years.  And the establishment of a youth ministry program that is soon to be undertaken is very exciting.

Finally, name one thing about yourself that others might not readily know. Other responders in the past have mentioned getting their pilot’s license as a college student or work as a dog groomer…anything interesting that you might share with us? I am an avid Science Fiction reader, I have
a collection of more than 2000 books – all Science Fiction.
